Staying in for Valentine’s Day and I can’t wait! For the wine/movie rec, we’re watching About Time and I love Sancerre!

my favorite movie rewatch, heartbreaking happiness each time.

(Perhaps you like Sancerre because of its refreshing and crisp acidity + strong citrus fruit aromas and light herbaceousness) If you've liked Sancerre, you'll also like:

1) Soave (Garganega—grape): Italian varietal, one of my newest favorite grapes. tropical fruit forward (kiwi), melon, grassy, light body and medium acid.

2) Vinho Verde (Portugese): ask your wine shop for a dry Vinho Verde! crisp acid, ripe green apple, limestone notes.

3) Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand: similar structure to its French cousin but more pronounced tropical fruit flavors! (think passionfruit or pineapple)

dreamy, surrealist terrence malick! have only seen tree of life but this is my push to watch his earlier work.

(wine) if you liked, "Matin Calme Mano a Mano", you'll also like:

1) Cote Du Rhone "GSM" (grenache, syrah, mourvedre) blend. For a higher-end splurge worthy bottle, look for the "Villages" designation.

2) WILD CARD PICK: Tempranillo from Ribera Del Duero: strong fruit aromas, slight blackpepper spice, dark cherry, vanilla, and a hint of smoke.

3) Montepulciano: beautiful Italian grape, much juicier, bolder red-fruit flavors.

good wine is good wine and comes from anywhere! unfortunately NY grocery stores cannot sell wine or liquor so I don't have personal experience (other than 2 buck chuck), but I have some very good sources recommending—in no particular order:

1) Bandol Rosé: great value classic rosé from Provence, France

2) Pinot Gris (Reserve) from Willamette, Oregon: recommended and one of my favorite wine regions and grapes

3) Cabernet Sauvignon (Oakville in Napa Valley): an esteemed wine region in Napa

4) Grand Reserve (Paso Robles) Red Wine

5) Sauvignon Blanc (TJ's Reserve from Napa Valley)

...I'm also told to look for their Châteauneuf-du-Pape (French) reds and Italian Reds (DOC or DOCG—relating to Italian origin and quality)

Feel free to report back on any of your findings!
